KERA-ANN & DANIEL

Kera-ann and her now husband Daniel wed in the beautiful Lake Tekapo, April 12th 2019.
Their ceremony and reception was held at the stunning Mount Hay Station.

WHERE DID YOU FIRST MEET?

Daniel and I both met in the Royal New Zealand Navy when I was getting near to the end of my recruit phase. He assisted in my DRE week as a spare hand and that’s where I first got to know of him, haha he tried to tell me and a few others how to do the dishes properly and I told him I’m not a idiot or know how to clean up after myself haha, that’s where I guess you can say our relationship grew from there . Then at my graduation we met again and then started talking and hanging out more :)

WHERE DID HE PROPOSE?

Funny story to this the day Daniel tried to propose to me was when he was getting ready to pack for his next posting with the navy overseas and I got caught up on his bags kicked the bed leg and broke my toe.
We had plan to go to the beach and I was so mad and a adamant that I would not be going to the beach with a broken toe. Due to much persuading he finally got me in the car and we drove to our little spot around at Leonard’s beach which is our dog dream beach. Still angry and upset he got me all set up and told me to lay down and chill out for a moment. Without any awareness he had left he tapped on my shoulder helped me up and to keep my eyes closed. Knowing to right that it was before Christmas, we were at the dog beach I thought he’s got us a dog!!!  But to the best surprise ever he told me to open my eyes and I looked at my now husband on one knee holding that beautiful white box from Naveaya and Sloane to marry him with it also written in sand with a love heart around also. And that’s when I said yes!!!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TEKAPO FOR YOUR LOCATION?

We chose lake Tekapo because it was special to us, in the way that I had never been to the South Island until 5 years ago when I flew down to meet Daniel in the new year of 2015 our summers holiday for our first proper offical date/road trip together. It was the first place we stayed at and just everything about it was magical. I fell in love with the southern time. The slowness of the country the hot summer heat the cool winter nights, the icy lake water snow kissed mountain tops and the kind people we met in Tekapo as well, but most of all the clear starry night sky.
When we first got engaged we knew it would be this place we would get married at, and we wanted to bring my family and our friends to this beautiful township to show them why I fell in love with this man at this township.

WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL THEME/VISION OF THE WEDDING?

A simple rustic country wedding with a timeless twist of boho.

WHO WAS THE HELICOPTER COMPANY?

The amazing team from Air safaris took us on a life time experience up on the mountain for some photos and also as a gift from both mine and Daniels parents. Tim was our pilot and made the trip so enjoyable even offering his jacket to me to keep warm up on the mountain tops!

WHO WAS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?

Chris from focus photography.
Such an amazing human being. The magician behind the camera. Made us feel so relaxed in front of the lens and giving us the room and time to enjoy the moments he so beautifully captured.

SOME ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES

Enjoy every moment during your day. Spend those extra few minutes when your alarm goes of in the morning to take it all in. Be excited, feel nervous, feel strong and brave and even take an hour to have a bath and lock yourself away to really take it all in. The morning goes so fast and the rest of the day even faster. There’s such a beautiful high to the day and the day is yours and your husband or even wife. Take time to spend a moment with your parents or your bridal party and have a tissue on hand just incase & remember to breathe.
Steal those little moments with your husband or wife at the reception and give them a gently kiss or I love you it’s the best feeling ever.
